Big Visions

Sometimes we are given a big vision. I have noticed four things that we can do with a big vision.

1. We will run away from it, and ever think of it again. We fear that it is too big. We fear what others may think. Often, the results of this in a shallow unfulfilled life.

2. We say we will work on it when we have more time. The result of this is that later on in life, we will begin to regret that we never gave it a chance. We live in the state of what could have been.

3. We see someone who is working on the same vision that we were given. We embrace being part of their team. We are part of the vision being fulfilled, and understand all of its purpose.

4. We grab that vision, and run full speed with it. We put our energies into it. It is so big, that we share it with others, and they are grabbed into the vision. These are the visions that become the big visions. They are the kind that positively change many lives. They are bigger than our selves.

yea this is definitely true. I tend to lean towards being like #3.

I don't really have any "big" visions right now. I just pretty much want to live how I want and do what I want, be happy and have fun. I'd like to find a better job, learn some new things, make some new friends... maybe write a book someday, who knows? I tend to just go with the flow and try to live without regrets, learn from my mistakes and look forward to tomorrow.

sometimes it can be intimidating if I want to learn a new skill, but if I have fun doing it, it's okay--even if it turns out I'm not too talented with that skill.

I try to find ways to make my dreams seem more alive, whether it be by talking with others about it, writing about it or getting people to help make that "vision" more real. for instance, I love finding artists to draw my characters or scenes from my stories--these are just little visions, but they are what really makes me smile in the long run!

I think I'm all about little visions that add up to something great--something that really defines me--in the end :)

I used to teach some leadership classes when I was a District Manager in a finance company. Part of that process is helping people develop and build upon goals and visions. It was not until I was in my thirties I saw some of my big visions, and wrote them down.

That's cool :)

I guess we'll see what the future has in store for me then! for now, I will simply climb the steps of life and have fun along the way~

Very true! I tend to fluctuate between #2 and #4 depending if shifts are scattered or not. If they are, it's more #2; on my days off (if they're back to back) it's #4. Come to think of it, that applies to my "life view" as well as game dev.

I'm mostly between 2 and 3. And it's always like "Ahh when I come home from school I'll do this and that on my project~" Then I end up procrastinating and doing a part of what I wanted to do then I'm like "Ahh I can do this on weekend, so much freetime then~" I barely do anything on the weekend. It's either lack of inspiration, motivation, creativity or I'm really busy and have to study . This is so weird but cool to figure these things out.

Well said OP. Ambition is might, and when followed up on, it is power... raw, unmitigated power-- the power to change everything!

I think a certain green beagle puts it well.
"Why fret over the future and get held up over history, when you could just be perfecting the present? I'm not a smart guy, I can't pretend to fight the future or protect the past. But what I... what anyone can change, is the now!"
