Resource Reviews
Here are some guidelines that you may chose to implement when doing a review for resources submitted for this forum. Our forum is visiting by professionals from time to time to take a look at our content and discussions. This is a simple guideline to help all have a more enjoyable experience in giving and receiving critiques. I will be giving some DO’s and DO NOT’s.
DO’s
1. Take into consideration what level the contributor says they are at. If it is their very first attempt at that resource, and it is magnificent, go ahead and review them. If it is in your opinion horrible, please do not even give them a review. Give them some pointers in Discussion.
2. If there is a negative aspect or more, try to use the following method of delivering a critique. Start off with stating something, anything, positive about what you saw in the resource. State what you saw that was negative, and maybe even give recommendations of how to improve it. End the critique with a positive encouraging message, like, “You will get better as you practice more.”
3. Be professional. Direct the critiquing at the resource. Do not let personal opinions, positive or negative, influence how you critique.
4. Give a good overview looking at many aspects of the resource.
DO NOT’s
1. One word it, or short sentence it. Examples: “Awesome!”, “Aweful”, “Dude that’s cool!”, “Wow.”, “Sooo Beautiful”, and “LOVE IT!!!”
2. Directly critique the contributor, negatively. Do not direct what you think towards the person. Look at the resource instead. “You have no business making plugins.” “You definitely should not do any more art.” Statements like these are not critiquing the resource. They are directly focused at the contributor.
3. Violate any other forum rules, because they are covered here too.
DO
Go out and make some good reviews.
