    I'm familiar with Linux, but haven't any exp with BSD. I know FreeBSD is a thing... I really should load a VM with it and get familiar. If I wasn't an AMD user id have at least setup a hackintosh at some point.

    @Xilefian well, at the least that setup only is required to be figured out once. I'll admit to being fairly clueless on how mac os handles applications. Cost being a large barrier to entry for myself and none of my schools ever covered macs. I feel like an illiterate when it comes to working...

    I haven't gotten the hang of it yet, but I agree aesprite is pretty good stuff. feels a little over-engineered though. [messy graphical display that doesnt contribute to the usability of the program, and a version or two back caused straaange lag issues when moving windows around in the program]
