My name is Rory, and I'm a seasoned gamer (not over-seasoned, mind you) who enjoys the classics more than anything. I cannot count the times I've played through FF6, Zelda, Dragon Quest, and many others.
I primarily use Construct 2, but am going to be purchasing RPG Maker MV on Steam later this week. I used RPG Maker in the past (way in the past) when it was not even in English and we had to use patches to get it readable (not to mention, and this might sound bad, but piracy to obtain it at all as it was not available in the US during that time). This dedication I see in the forums to RPG Maker is wonderful, and I'm glad to see the software surviving for so long.
I do not know what game I intend on developing with RPG Maker MV, but it will be after I finish the game I'm working on in Construct 2 (and likely porting it to Construct 3 once I get more settled in what I'm working on in C2). I have a wonderful gift for game design I believe, though I have never had formal training in software development. At the time of posting this, I am 35 years old and probably the only reason I've never released a game is due to lack of time to really dig deep in the games I develop. Over time, my creations have been more like a test bed, and have allowed me the opportunity to learn more than I think I need to in order to finish a game.
I'm glad to say that I do finally have time to work on a single project now. The bad part is I'm not an artist in the least. The good part is, I know artists (of music, sound, and graphics) who will likely be easy to get on board if I have a completed product.
I'm hoping the community here and in the RPG Maker forums will be as inviting as I've had in other places, as it seems you all are. I can be difficult at times, not going to lie about that, but it's all for the purpose of fully comprehending everything I touch as I go along. Some might "apologize in advance" but I'm not one to apologize for seeking knowledge. And neither should any of you.
In conclusion, I look forward to what chats might come about in the future, and discussion, getting help, giving help, and more. Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself, and maybe we'll run into each other here sometime in the future.
