I've been using the RPG maker series since 2003 I believe. I started writing music around 2002 at the ages between 12-13 years old. RPG Maker really inspired me to write music for games I've made for it at the time as well as create personal games with puzzles using like switches, obstacles, and etc. that I would share among close friends.
Since I've started back up with RPG Maker MV, I've been writing pieces of music again for many areas of the game I started basically to get back into the flow of things. I'm very experienced in writing MIDI files but also have the tools to write .ogg + etc. and have wrote a decent amount of .mp3 files. I still need to do research on setting up loop points for a song to loop seamlessly in playback in RPG Maker MV but as far as accurately representing the mood of areas, I feel after writing about 300+ songs since I was a kid, I have somewhat of a decent grasp of different ways to approach different scenes musically.
I generally like to focus on writing melodies that catch the ear but that's not the only style I like to do. I also will write songs driven by harmony or rhythm depending on what the scene or the preference I'm writing for is.
