What is the one hobby/passion you've been doing the longest, and how did you start it?

For me, it's been webmastering forums. I started 2009-04-10 (April, 10th, 2009) with http://pivotxd.forumotion.com I was addicted to making Pivot animations and saw this amazing pivot animator had this awesome forum. I asked him how he did it, and he helped me set it up. From there I made countless forumotion forums. One being http://pivetworld.forumotion.com/forum this forum got pretty big (to me) and was amazing, fun, and just a blast to manage. PW was the first website I purchased a .com for, and the reason I continued to make forums. The community was so awesome, and was something that got me addicted to making forums, and helping out other people by doing countless things. PW was also where I first met @sage 2010-05-19 (May 19th, 2010) after that he followed me with every site I made. I believe if it wasn't for PW kicking off, I probably would have been your average guy, hanging out with friends, living life like normal people do. Now, I'm the webmaster who spends his time updating forums, and playing games, which I find a hell of a lot more fun than hanging out (Unless there is alcohol, etc.) XD

It depends on which point a hobby or passion comes to be more than passing interest.

I've been fluent in English most of my life, but it didn't start to become a creative hobbyist thing until only a few years ago.

I've been drawing since a very early age. But it didn't become a hobby of itself until late only a few years ago.

During my highschool youth, I used to construct models, and later made stuffed animals, a bunch of creative crafts.

All of these eventually culminated into game design. Stuffed toys = Character design, cardboard models = worldbuilding/prop design.

Art = visual game strong
Writing = interactive game strong.

Another of my interests was playing games, I've been playing games since I was six years old, and it's the one thing that had always been a hobby. Deep down I secretly always wanted to make my own, but saw it as some sort of impossibility.

Until I was about 16, and I saw how easy it was just to design and think about what I could make. My documents folder is still home to over 8 gigs worth of Microsoft word documents of different games, ideas and the like.

The one hobby I've always had without realizing it was conjuring a universe, from nothing becomes something, and the something was developed over 20 years until we get to where we are today.

let's see, I started writing at a really young age (around 7-8 i guess?) because I didn't really have many friends and I was lonely lol. so i did what a lot of kids do--imagine my daily life as something different, if i had powers and stuff. so I wrote about bringing game characters to life and having them come to school with me and stuff like that.

I never stopped writing and it grew from a fun hobby into my biggest passion. I was the happiest whenever I could write and joined all the writing clubs in school and took as many writing-related classes as possible in college. it was the one thing I could always really shine in, and it never gets boring!

making new worlds, characters, stories and then going back and reading them years later... it's awesome to see what I've come up with and how much I've improved over the years. I never want to stop writing!

My passion is learning a little about anything that happens to interest me. It's a very broad spectrum of things, including medicinal, social, artistic, technical, economical, psychological, etc. the list of things I have studied goes on a long time. I just like to learn about many different things, that is, IF they interest me. Sports would be #1 thing that I have 0% interest in though.

I'd have to say it's game development, though regrettably not seriously. I started with the ZX81, creating RPGs and Adventure games. With every computer I've had since then it's been the same thing. I used to use Quill and GAC to make adventures, which I'd then sell successfully to friends and sometimes commercially as well.

I've also been blogging (on numerous topics) from around 1990. And that's my true passion: writing. Anything from poetry to short stories to novels. I've had a number of writings published and have self-published as ell, although these days I don't seem to have the time or inspiration to write much.

I'm pretty sure it's easy to guess, but I've always had a passion for visual art. (cat)

I've tried a lot of things, but besides drawing I've focused the most on pixel art, which I started back in 2008-2009. I happened upon RMXP at some point when I was looking up types of characters, and that's what introduced me to RPG Maker and its spriting styles. Eventually I found VX and vx.net, and that's when I actually got into character spriting. I started out almost exclusively doing resource requests, but eventually I made my own topic for sprites.

I can't remember what year it was exactly, but at some point I left vx.net for about 6 years, and by the time I came back pretty much everyone had moved to rmw already. I moved to rmw pretty shortly after, opened up a sprite shop, and eventually started taking commissions there, even though I prefer taking requests for free.

And now I'm here with you guys~ (heart)

If were talking about passion here I guess that my biggest one is definitely video games. Ever since I got that Gameboy Colour along with Pokémon Yellow for my 6th birthday I have been into video games. And video games is also what brought me to my latest passion - composing. At first I started off by making remakes of classic video game music and later I composed my own original tracks using Musescore. It was not until about three years ago that I started making music specifically for video games. Unfortunately, I have lost most of my older songs due to a hard drive corruption some time ago but some of them are still up in my Soundcloud - not my earliest works but still. And as you all know I have severely improved over all this time and I'm happy to contribute to this community by living out my passion. (cat)

My passion has been playing and making RPGs. I first started in 1982, when I was a Freshman in High School. It was first exciting to play Dungeons and Dragons, but then it became just as exciting to create these new unlimited diverse worlds. I was also a short-story and poetry writer, which assisted in creating new campaigns. My wife dated me knowing I was a D&D player; she tried it, but did not really fit in. Same hobby, nearly 34 years later. I still have a love for it.
