In Likes, Are You a Giver or a Receiver?

It is real easy to figure out. Just go to your profile page, and find the total likes (includes all the other areas, like: creative, agree, optimistic, etc.) that you received. It is also available to see under you avatar by likes. On your profile you can also see all of the different types of likes you gave away. Add those different likes given all together to figure out total given.

A person who is balanced would have nearly the same number of likes given and received. What you do is divide those given by those received. The balanced giver and receiver would have a number closer to one. If you received 100 like totals, and gave 100 like totals, that is 100/100 would be get a 1.

There are extremes in this tool. Let's say there is a person who has given 500 total likes and received 250, that is 500/250, which is 2.00 . This person may be giving too much.

Let's say there is a person who has given 25 total likes and received 500 total likes, that is 10/500, which is 0.05. This person receives too much (possibly even a taker).

If you come up between 0.50 and 1.50, I would worry too much. Anyways this is just something I came up due to being higher on the nerd classification. (wink)

Mmmm... let's see.... I've given 641, and received 1,071, so that makes my number... ~0.60.

I don't think there's such a thing as giving or taking too many, when it comes to ratings. Some people like to simply respond to a comment rather than rate it, just like there are people who rate every post they respond to or simply enjoy. (cute)

"Oh no! My post has 5 likes? I'd better go like 5 posts!"

I love giving out likes and ratings, I also love receiving them, I don't feel like doing math when I first wake up lol but I will show you how much is in the like rating. I would say everyone is different when it comes to ratings, some don't even use it, and I use it all the time, even if I reply with a comment lol.

Received: 638 Given: 1,353

This little unofficial giver/receiver test happened when I calculated someone's 'score' and it came out to under .01 . That decimal is in the correct spot. (smile)

I also use the liking to help motivate, attempting to brighten new members days. (jolly)

Yea this one can suck the new members in rather quickly, lol, it can be addicting to receive likes and get the first few badges lol.

Hmm... I haven't really looked at this until now and it seems that I'm more on the receiving end. I have got about 100 likes more than I have given. However, in terms of other ratings I'm leaning more towards the giving end.
I have just now recently gone over to liking basically every introduction post I comment on, so that should be changing soon, I think. To me, likes and also the other ratings are a little more valuable than to others, it seems. I'm very picky about what to give when to whom. I don't want to devalue ratings by inflationarily using them. ^_^

That is why, with Introductions, to have them be a little more active in the forum, that first like, gives them a little push.

I have a hard time pressing like buttons because of an ingrained dislike of them I was taught by facebook and stuff, that said, i'm more lax about it these days, and I do like the buzz of getting them. This system's also cool because it's got different kinds, too!

I didn't even think of it! Though with 500+ likes split between things it'd be a little time-consuming at this point.
