Sinnistar submitted a new resource:

Mazi Raia Demo - Maze Game, RPG, Adventure, Demo, SenRufu, Sinnistar

Mazi Raia is a puzzle adventure game heavily influenced by RPGs. It has a simplistic story using the bare minimal from the MV RTP itself with barely any additions to that. That being said, it still offers an enjoyable and original story that is sure to amuse the player. If you like to think about how to do things in a game, this may be for you. It contains mazes, switch puzzles, teleport pad puzzles, sliding on ice puzzles, and so much more while progressing through a simple but meaningful...

At the beginning there is part of a sentence that has someone relating to...Is this supposed to be something relating to, or even someone related to?

There is an area in quotes, "the Lost Woods." Since it is a proper noun within quotes, I might recommend, "The Lost Woods."

In one area, the character character can walk in an area, hear a growl, and you see the GAME OVER screen, with no explanation.

Alright heh, I should clarify something about the beginning. It's someone giving the best award to the main character "after" she has completed the entire game. However, as you quickly become aware, she was not actually there.
It's actually Arlas but in the future after an odd twist of events that has caused him to go back in time, but it's still the present so he's older as an old man. If I could manage to do voice acting, this would be much easier understood, but I suck at doing that. But yeah, Arlas was forced into the past where he grew old and met back with her on that day. That's also why the "heroes" are mentioned, because to him, she's saved double the number of lives as she would remember herself.

As for that area where you hear the growl, that's because there are "dogs" roaming about and if they touch you it's game over. She mentions that she should avoid them, but they roam so it might be confusing to actually see them sometimes. I'll probably edit this to fix that up though so they don't get hidden in the trees and such, especially on the one tile wide pathways. If there is a bug there somehow I'll double check the events for those and see if I can find it and fix it up.

Thanks for spotting that quoted name too, it's supposed to be how you said but seems typoed. It is possible to get passed that area where you saw game over at though, and there's at least 3 levels passed that I believe too. Thanks for checking it out and letting me know! Much appreciated.
[doublepost=1450936017,1450910590][/doublepost]Update 1.2 coming shortly.

Changes:
Dog AI pathing in 3rd level now fits a set pattern so no more randomly getting "Game Over" from hidden dogs.
Intro sheds more light on who is speaking.

Fixes:
Minor pathing errors that was causing some frame skips.
Grammar corrections and a few spelling bugs in some of the dialogue.

Future ideas:
Custom animated title screen, game over screen, and credits screen.
More challenging puzzles.
"Chase" scenes where the player must escape the one chasing them. (Not sure I can manage this as the NPC seems to stop when it is next to the player....I don't know how to fix this at all. I want them to actually run into the player triggering a "player touch" event if that's even possible.)

Have you set the chasing event to "Event Touch"?

Is it event touch and not player touch? I always get confused on things like that so it wouldn't surprise me lol. It's important because there's several levels in the game that puts this mechanic into the puzzles.

I use 'Event Touch' for when I want events to touch the player, like chasing. I use 'Player Touch' when I want players to touch the event.

Makes sense. It's one of the few things I was told about a long time ago with RTP but I never seem to remember it lol. Good to know! I'ma have to make that change to all the "patrolling" events lol. I want it to be a challenge, and without that being proper it isn't difficult at all heh.

Exactly, a patrolling entity should be hunting down, and not be waiting for the player character to tap on its back.

Yep and tight spaces combined with quicker patrols just make it more intense lol. I like challenging games myself (glutton for punishment....sometimes too much heh) and that's what makes it fun for me. The updated demo will be available in like 11 minutes, I hate how slow the uploading is sometimes on that....seems an aweful long time for 400mb lol

Here's the next version for the demo. It fixes the issues with the Altar of Ego and several smaller things I've found while testing it again myself.

Yeah that's prolly a good plan. 1.3 is available now and there shouldn't be anymore issues with the demo. Those who test it and lemme know what they think can get a free copy of the full game once I finish up the last bit and test it multiple times. (I have played through the entire game
just last night and everything seems to be alright, and nothing is game breaking so it seems okay, but I will test it twice more myself and select some others to test it as well and see if they spot anything I overlook.)
[doublepost=1451913434][/doublepost]New custom soundtrack coming soon for this project. I'm so excited my friend is composing it for this game! This will change up the mood for sure I'd think. I'll get an updated demo version once he finishes with that and it'll have some other changes as well that will certainly make things a little more interesting.
