It would be nice if we have a info-window above the forum-index, or a sidebar-place where the current important threads, like contests or the mod-poll can be found on first sight. Maybe with little banners as eyecatchers. So that newcomers and guests could see whats going on without long research.

That'd be nice - I'd kind of like that instead of having so many threads at the top of each section, to be honest. If I'm in General Discussion, for example, I have to scroll halfway down the page to see something not pinned to the top xD
This sounds pretty good. I'm going to keep some things globally stickied though, such as the rules, but the rest I will place in the sidebar to help keep the forums/stickies down to a minimum :) Thank you all for taking the time to voice your opinions. It's always helpful to hear what everyone want's/thinks :D
